Freewrite: "I felt a Funeral in my Brain" - Emily Dickinson
After reading this poem, I thought that the narrator of the poem was going through some sort of mental struggle in the first stanza where the narrator talked about a funeral in his or her brain and "Sense breaking through". Perhaps it was a mental struggle over solving a problem or issue since at the end of the poem, the narrator "Finished knowing--then--", which could have been some sort of awakening or epiphany.
Poetry's Impact
I am not a peotic person and I don't like writing poems but I feel that poetry is very meaningful. Whether it is about love, life, or changing the world, poetry is very influential and can emotionally heal or hurt a person. Personally, poetry in music emotionally heals me and I feel that I can relate my life to specific songs and to the emotions conveyed by the music. For instance when I am feeling down or upset, I would listen to sad songs or relaxing songs for a while until my mood is uplifted.
